MULTAN: The roof of a private school in Multan's Basti Ali Wala area collapsed on Saturday, leaving at least nine children injured.

According to rescue officials, over 25 students were trapped under the debris.

An operation initiated to rescue the children and teachers trapped under the rubble.

Two teachers, who were present in the school when the roof collapsed, were also rescued.

The injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital while some were provided first-aid on the spot.

Rescue officials said 16 students were sent home after they were provided first-aid.

As Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident, police arrested the school's principal.

Angry parents and family members of the students surrounded the police vehicle and protested against the school administration for their negligence regarding the dilapidated state of the school building.

Pakistan Army personnel also visited the school after the incident and observed the damage caused by the roof collapse.

schools have no proper building .children going to schools are deprived of basic needs of life. the great leader of country have huge bank amount in foreign banks.

Private schools and mostly those located in rural area have no proper building / infrastructure. They provide education on low fees and as a result such accidents can happen.

@imtiaz gilgity That's a wierd argument. So, Nawaz Sharif should personally insect millions of building around the country and ensure that they are safe before undertaking any other development venture?

why public get enrolled its beloved innocent childern in substandered private school, because businessmen rulers do not invest public money in basic need of public. basic need of public is not previllage it is right of public.
