Looks like, KPK is totally ignored and original coridor has been changed to Punjab, 80% of the projects are for Punjab
Abdullah Apr 20, 2015 08:58pm

@Khan 100% projects are for pakistan :)

Confused Apr 20, 2015 09:27pm

@Khan Maybe it has something to do with KPK's elected reps trying to sabotage the Chinese premier's early visit with their dharnas. Typically, people don't give money to those that inconvenience them.

Mohammad Akhtar Apr 20, 2015 09:38pm

All these MOUs' are on paper. Nothing will happen, richer will go super rich and poor will not find bread and butter.

waqas Apr 20, 2015 10:44pm

Glad to see that the groundbreaking projects are for renewable energy, hyrdo, wind and solar. Wallahi our land has been blessed with so many resources if only the nation realizes. Solar and wind energy if harnessed properly could erase the energy shortage within a short amount of time. I know its not going to happen but I really wish someone to speak on behalf of the muslims in china. Just an official statement that brings them to attention, the chinese are mature enough not to get too upset by what should be a natural reaction from a friend.

Khan Apr 20, 2015 11:12pm

@Abdullah , I am more Pakistan than anyone you can find but don't want any province discriminated against .... and its true the original eeconomic coridor has been changed to Punjab

tani Apr 21, 2015 01:59am

I wouldn't rest my faith in any of the projects except Gawadar.Gawadar projects will be completed because they benefit China. Present Govt. will mint money and not chase up the progress of any projects which benefit common man. The only way Pak can progress is if the leaders can develop a true sense of patriotism.God help Pakistani people.

barkhurdar-e-Hind Apr 21, 2015 04:35am

These 51 deals are for infrastucture development. Happy to know that.

But what about secret agreements on defence, nuclear weapons & missile technology transfer, submarine sales, etc? No such deals seem to appear in the list here!

Pakistani Apr 21, 2015 05:56am

What's in there for Karachi. The economic powerhouse of Pakistan

Someone who is concern! Apr 21, 2015 08:55am

why nothing for Karachi?? why metro for Lahore.. Sindh Govt is useless they dont know how to lobby investors and Islamabad

@Karachiite Apr 21, 2015 09:18am

@Pakistani Ignored as usual. No mass transit or any other upliftment project. Sad Mr. CM.

Jahan Apr 21, 2015 01:31pm

@Mohammad Akhtar , not really - Bilateral MOU's usually comes to life after all, as a govt. ofiicial I can assure you that .

Gerard Apr 21, 2015 09:14pm

The important take-away is how many of these deals are in energy - this should conclusively dispel the notion that China is out only to benefit China - if that were the case the vast majority of the funds would be in the transport link and there will be many pipelines - instead, what we have is power generation for Pakistan, where China stands to gain only the honest penny they get by supplying equipment (and if they want to support their own manufacturers only they could just give the money to them direct and avoid the hazzle of a Pakistan roundabout).

areeba rao Apr 22, 2015 01:08pm

That's Really great Because now a days in the critical condition Pakistan Wants a supporter & a sincere friend ...!!

areeba rao Apr 22, 2015 01:14pm

@Someone who is concern! ... You are really right .. I support your views Because Nawaz sharif is making lahore as well develop city non the karachi .....

Nazeer Ahmed Apr 22, 2015 01:28pm

The main stakeholders of EC are Gilgit Baltistan, KPK, and Baluchistan but unfortunately they are kept very far from the benefits, everything directly and indirectly going to Punjab..

ajit Apr 22, 2015 05:04pm

@Gerard you are wrong, The Power Projects are on Financing agreements not a soft loan agreement. Once these Power Plants developed, Pakistan will have to pay for Power generated at the rate fixed by Chinese Companies. Please open your Eyes.

Pak-China agreements success for the government but i have question; will the government do effort to lift up the life of common people or again only the rich will take all the benefits. The transparency index for corruption will show how much these projects are for the public or for the rich one. I truly wish that common public get benefit out of these projects .

Wajahat Khan Apr 22, 2015 11:41pm

After reading the above details, I have equal emotions of hope and uncertainty. The government in a way is window-dressing the whole package by including (or taking credit for) joint statements, minutes, exchange of notes in the above 51. This way, not every MoU seems directly linked to physical infrastructure projects as PML-N people portray on TV.

It makes the whole package look dubious. In short, it is not completely what it looks like. OR may be it is time complete details/progress should be shared on a website so people like me don't get the not-so-positive feelings.

Akram Apr 24, 2015 07:35pm

@Khan if you were investing your own money, would you invest in KPK currently?

longer term the shorter route through kpk will gain momentum as the transporters will realise the longer route costs them more in the long term. But the fighting has to calm down first.
