KARACHI: Commissioner of Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has assured foolproof security to the visiting Zimbabwe team as Pakistan prepares to host its first international series next month after a gap of six years.

“Revival of international cricket after six years is a cheerful occasion for everyone,” Siddiqui said in response to a letter by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requesting for the arrangements and security of the Zimbabwe cricket team.

Zimbabwe will also play a One-Day International and a Twenty20 International at the National Stadium Karachi.

“Sports for peace is our message and we feel proud to be hosting Zimbabwe in Karachi,” he remarked.

“It is our collective responsibility to not only highlight Pakistan's positive aspects but also give a message to the world that the country is safe for sports.”

Zimbabwe’s tour of Pakistan is being looked upon as an ‘ice breaker’ as the country hopes for the return of international action after the 2009 terrorist attack on the visiting Sri Lankan side in Lahore.
