MULTAN: A bank robbery attempt was foiled by a security guard and a police constable here on Friday.

As per police, two dacoits entered Allied Bank’s BCG Chowk branch and held the bank staff at gunpoint. Their third accomplice stayed outside.

The dacoits collected Rs1 million in cash and were about to leave when Shahzad, a security guard of the bank, tried to stop them. The dacoits opened fire and injured Shahzad.

Ejaz, a police constable, attacked a dacoit with a brick and snatched cash from him.

People gathered on the spot and tried to burn the captured dacoit alive. Police, however, intervened and rescued him.

His accomplices managed their escape.

The guard who sustained a bullet injury was shifted to Nishtar Hospital where doctors declared him out of danger.
