ISLAMABAD: British High Commissioner in Pakistan Philip Barton called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday and discussed with him matters pertaining to the case about killing of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq in London in 2010.

The meeting took place a day after the minister disclosed that the facilitator of the two suspected killers of Dr Farooq had been arrested in Karachi. And the man, Moazzam Ali Khan, was remanded into custody of Rangers for 90 days by an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday.

Informed sources said a money-laundering case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain also came under discussion.

The last meeting between the interior minister and the British high commissioner had taken place after a raid by Rangers at the headquarters of the MQM in Karachi, followed by a televised interview of the party’s chief terming the personnel who had raided his house ‘bygones’.

During the meeting, the British government had been asked to stop an individual inciting violence in Pakistan while sitting in the United Kingdom through his telephonic addresses and live speeches.
