LAHORE: Rain lashed many cities in the upper parts of the country and northern Punjab on Sunday, and more is expected on Monday.

It remained partly cloudy to cloudy in Lahore. There was scattered light rain mainly around the airport which nevertheless dropped the maximum temperature to 25.5 degrees C, offering a perfect outing weather to the people.

According to the Met department, Kotli received 69mm of rain, Sialkot Cantt 47mm, Islamabad (Zero Point 42mm, Bunji, Chakwal 38mm each, Murree 37mm, Mangla, Kakul 35mm each, Noorpur Thal 32mm, Rawalakot and Jhelum 30mm each, Pattan, Balakot 25mm each, Garhi Dupatta, Jauharabad 24mm each, Dir 22mm, Gujrat, Muzaffarabad, Astore 20mm each, Gujranwala 19mm, Sargodha 16mm, Kalam 15mm, Mandi Bahauddin, Dera Ismail Khan 13mm each, Drosh 12mm, Parachinar 9mm, Mirkhani, Skardu 8mm each, Chilas 7mm, Astore, Chitral, Sialkot Airport 6mm each, Hunza 5mm, Bhakkar, Gilgit, Jacobabad, Saidu Sharif 4mm each, Okara, Drosh 3mm each, Peshawar city, Lahore Airport 2mm each.

The Met department said the rain causing western low pressure persisted. And it will generate scattered thunderstorm/rain (with isolated heavy falls) along with gusty winds over upper Fata, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar and Kohat divisions), upper and central Punjab (Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir along with upper catchments of the rivers Jhelum, Chenab and Ravi in the next 48 hours. As a result, the water flow of these rivers is likely to be increased. There are chances of localised urban flooding.

Isolated thunderstorm/rain along with gusty winds is also expected over southern Fata, southern Punjab (Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan divisions), lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu divisions), Karachi, Quetta and Zhob divisions.

It will remain partly cloudy to cloudy in Lahore with chances of scattered rain.
