Imran on board about Karak oil refinery, claims CM’s adviser

KARAK: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan was on board about setting up oil refinery in Karak, said Adviser to Chief Minister Malik Qasim Khan here on Sunday.

Addressing PTI workers in his constituency, he said that he had also demanded provision of funds for megaprojects like Takht-i-Nusrati-Mianwali road to improve communication links and facilitate people.

He said that the party chief directed Chief Minister Pervaz Kahttak to provide funds for the mega projects in district Karak. He said that he had also initiated work on a drinking water supply scheme from Lawagher Dam on gravity line and claimed that the project would be completed with Rs380 million.

The lawmaker said that work on 16-kilometre long Kohe Maidan road was also been initiated with Rs200 million. The road would be completed soon to link the people of far away areas with the district headquarters, he added.

Mr Khan said that the completion of road would also provide an opportunity to the people of the district to take benefits from the coal mines and other minerals in Kurd Sharif, Showanki and Koh-i-Maidan areas.

The adviser said that the district would get millions of rupees in the head of revenue from the coal mines. He added that other important projects were also launched in his constituency with the oil and gas royalty funds.

The lawmaker said that the oil refinery would also provide employment opportunities to the local educated youth. He expressed the hope that the mega project would be launched in the district as it was had 75 per cent oil and gas reserves of the Kohat division.

Mr Khan said that irrigation left canal from the Indus River would also usher a new era of development in the district. He claimed that the district would grow grain and vegetables to meet the requirements of the entire province.
