KARACHI: The team of law enforcers in Dubai for the past one month for the extradition of Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) leader Uzair Baloch might have to return quickly as their visas are about to expire, Additional IG Ghulam Qadir Thebo told Dawn on Friday.

The team, led by SSP Naveed Khwaja, left for Dubai on Feb 5 after the interior ministry directed the federal and provincial authorities to conclude Uzair Baloch’s case within a week.

So far, the leader of the proscribed group has not appeared before a judge in Dubai, though the authorities sounded positive that the four-member team of law enforcers could “very soon” get his custody from the UAE court.

“We have done everything on our part. And at the moment we fear that the police team’s visa might expire soon that might delay the process,” the Karachi police chief said, adding that they were “well equipped” to deal with the PAC leader’s case in Dubai as they had submitted all the evidence and case details to the authorities and were awaiting his appearance in the court and a judgement.
