PM advises conferment of civilian awards on APS martyrs

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has advised President Mamnoon Hussain to approve the conferment of the Sitara-i-Shujaat and the Tamgha-e-Shujaat on those who were martyred in the Army Public School attack in December last year.

The decoration is intended to pay homage to those who were brutally murdered in the terrorist attacks on the school in Peshawar. The recipients include 122 students, two teachers and 20 staff members.

The Sitara-i-Shujaat (Order of Bravery) and the Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery) are two of the highest-ranking civilian awards in Pakistan.

Past recipients of the Sitara-i-Shujaat include Malala Yousafzai and Dr. Parween Rehman, a human rights activist.

PM Shareef, enough with the popular rhetorical announcements. We need to see action against Terror organizations you and your younger brother keep patronizing. You have to stop gagging us with temporary "naaray" and work honestly on bringing Madrassahs reforms and systematic de-radiclization of public through media and school curriculum.

Nothing better to honor them than keeping the promises that you made to deal with terrorism. All these other awards are useless if the government does not get serious. So far all the terrorists and their groups are safe and thriving.

Now that's going too far. Far more people including kids have died in other attacks too. Their relatives, rightly so, will feel discriminated. Do it for all or for none.

not taking anything away from these martyred students and teachers of APS, but what about the other civilians/police/rangers/army personals that have died at the hands of these savage terrorists. Are they any different from APS victims? Questions will be asked. Something to think about. My words might come across as negative but I do not intend to hurt some the victims or their families. All i am stating is that one should not differentiate between APS victims and other victims.

With all due respect ....there are a lot of other martyrs as well including women and children who died for very subtle other reasons at the hand of these mercenaries. I think NS is just trying to sugar coat his incompetence.

Make a monument, Engrave the names of the children just like India Gate. It will be remembered forever. Don't confer awards to the innocent children as none except their parents will remember their name.

It is now becoming more clear that the National Action Plan was NEVER MEANT to work......and instead of giving justice Mr Sharif is demeaning the whole exercise by handing out gifts.

Being an ex student of APS Peshawar as much as my heart bleeds for these innocent souls conferment of Medal for Bravery doesn't make sense in their cases. THEY WERE THERE TO STUDY - NOT TO SHOW HEROICS. Mrs. Tahira Qazi however who laid her life trying to protect her students should be conferred the highest civilian award for bravery.

Not only should they be honoured, but the school should be named after the students and the staff members and made into an exemplary institution of the country. It will be a slap on the face of the terrorists. KP government wake up and do something for this school, there are many things to do besides only talking about election fraud and senate elections.
