Roof collapse kills four FC personnel, three injured

PESHAWAR: The roof of a Frontier Constabulary (FC) check post collapsed on Monday due to heavy rain in Peshawar killing four security personnel and injuring three others.

The FC check post was located near the premises of Matani police station in the provincial capital.

DawnNews reported that four FC personnel Tehzeeb Ali, Abid Ali Muwad Ali, and Amjid Ali died when the roof their check post collapsed. Three people were also injured who were immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

DSP Saddar Circle Aabidur Rehman informed that the dead and injured personnel belong to the FC's Orakzai Platoon.

He said the check post was built in a local house whose roof, built of mud, could not withstand the downpour.

Khyber Pakhtumkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan expressed his grief and concern over the incident and prayed for the deceasedpersonnel. He asked the FC commandant to ensure proper compensation for the families of those killed in the incident.

One killed in Wah cantonment

Meanwhile, a person was killed while more than a dozen others were trapped when roof of a two-storey house collapsed due to heavy rain in Wah cantonment rear Taxila.

Residents started rescue efforts on their own as the local administration and rescue workers took some time to reach the site of incident.

Two children and a woman were pulled out alive from the rubble. Eyewitnesses said that many people are still trapped as rescue workers continued their search despite bad weather and nightfall.
