LAHORE: The CCTV footage led to the arrest of a woman who dumped the body of a girl at the Sherakot bus stand after allegedly killing her last month.

The body of Areeba, 22, of Sialkot, had been recovered from a suitcase which was abandoned by a man and a woman at the bus stand on Jan 13.

SSP (Investigations) Rana Ayyaz Saleem said the prime suspect, identified as Tooba, was taken into custody for her alleged involvement in the killing of Areeba, who wanted to become a model. He said raids were being conducted to arrest the man who accompanied Tooba to the bus stand.

The SSP said a report from a forensic science laboratory was awaited to determine the cause of the death. The girl was apparently strangled to death, he said.

The CCTV footage aired by different channels showed that a man and a woman reached the bus stand, purchased two tickets for Sialkot, but left the suitcase there.

Investigation officer Sub-Inspector Javed said Areeba had been living with her friend Tooba for the last couple of months in rented houses at Awan Town, Johar Town and Faisal Town.

BODY FOUND: The body of a man was found in a sack at a greenbelt on Canal Road here on Monday.

Some passersby spotted the sack containing the body of a man in his 40s, near a private hospital and informed the Johar Town police. They shifted the body to a morgue for an autopsy.

IO/Sub-Inspector Arif said the body of the unidentified man bore severe torture marks.
