KARACHI, Sept 20: Sindh Minister for Population Welfare Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that the government had taken a number of radical measures to provide quality and technical oriented education to the masses.

“Taking cognizance of the fact that development, progress and prosperity of the country is linked with modern and quality education, the government has taken steps for effective proliferation of education, which will pay dividend in days ahead,” he said while speaking at the first anniversary of Capital Grammar School, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, on Saturday.

He expressed dismay over prevailing level of literacy in the country.

To overcome this situation, he said that the government had not only focused its attention on general education, but also targeted proliferation of technical education.

“Children are being provided ample opportunities to equip themselves with modern knowledge and education,” he maintained.

Mr Imtiaz expressed hope that the country would soon be ranked among the countries with high literacy rate.

Among others, Al-Haj Shamimuddin, Saddiq Rathore and Anwar Zai also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
