LAHORE: Pakistan earned silver medal after losing the final to India in the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships, in Male, Maldives, according to information released by the Pakistan Volley Federation (PVF) on Saturday.

After a gruelling fight, India defeated Pakistan ‘A’ 2-1.

The Pakistan team comprising Mubashar Raza and Riaz gave tough time to India before losing the match.

Pakistan won the first set by a narrow margin of 22-20, but India restored the parity winning the second one 21-18.

In the third set, India remained winner with 15-12 score.

Maldives seized the bronze medal.

Mubashar Raza of Pakistan was declared the best player of the tournament.

PVF president Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob said the tournament had encouraged the federation to hone skills of its players.

He hoped the federation would receive due support from the government and corporate sector in this regard.
