KARACHI, Sept 17: PIA Chairman Ahmed Saeed has set up a separate Quality Assurance Department in PIA to improve the airline’s performance and enhance customer satisfaction.

Presiding over the first meeting of the Quality Council held at the PIA Head Office here on Wednesday, the chairman said the Quality Performance Improvement programme would set high standards for the airline.

“It will prepare the professionals of national carrier to meet the challenges of a highly competitive aviation environment,” he said.

Mr Saeed said initially four key areas — Airport, Flight Services, Marketing and Engineering — would benefit from the programme and soon the entire airline network would function under the umbrella of quality assurance programme.

It envisages performance objectives and building up of knowledge and competence of the airline’s workforce in their respective fields.

Capt Javed Khan has been appointed the first director for the department who would develop special modules for inculcating awareness and training.—APP
