Gas pipeline fire

Published December 27, 2014

AN 18-inch-diameter gas pipeline near Sui caught fire. As a result, a million cubic feet of gas drained out. It appears to be a sabotage activity depriving millions of people in Punjab and elsewhere of gas.

It is unfortunate that nobody owns the safety of gas pipelines spread all over the country. There is a dire need for safeguarding pipelines transmitting gas.

I hope federal and provincial governments will evolve a strategy to protect the pipelines. I suggest patrolling be further augmented so that in future such an incident can be averted.
