LAHORE, Sept 11: Pakistan will take part only in two disciplines, hockey and boxing in the Afro-Asian Games to be held at Hyderabad (India) from Oct 24 to 31.

Pakistan Olympic Association secretary, Mohammad Latif Butt, said that the organisers had selected eight sports for the Games but Pakistan could qualify for only two.

He said that four teams each, from Asia and Africa will take part in every discipline. From Africa top four teams will qualify while from Asia three top teams will participate. India as host will field its team in every sports making the total number of Asian teams to four.

Latif said that Pakistan would send six boxers and a 16-member hockey team with a total number of four officials.

The eight disciplines are athletics, swimming, football, hockey, shooting, weightlifting, boxing and gymnastics.
