ISLAMABAD: With confirmation of two new polio cases in the country on Monday, the toll for this year has climbed to 262.

The Polio Virology Laboratory said one case each was reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

Officials said the case from Swat in KP had been reported after a gap of five years. Twenty-one-month-old Abu Talha is a resident of union council Khuwaza Khela in Toragay village of Swat tehsil.

The other patient has been identified as Sumaira, a four-month-old resident of Shikrapur tehsil.
