QUETTA, Dec 20: Pakistan border security agencies have arrested a former Taliban official, Mulla Aminullah, in Chaman.

“ Yes, security agencies took Mulla Aminullah into custody in Chaman city on Wednesday evening,” border security authorities said while confirming the arrest of the former security affairs chief, Spin Boldak, on Thursday.

Aminullah, the sources said, had been shifted to an unknown place for interrogation.

Aminullah was the governor of Samangan, a province in northern Afghanistan, before he was appointed security affairs chief, Spin Boldak, two months back.

The Taliban had withdrawn their forces from Samangan when Northern Alliance troops entered the province in October last. Aminullah, who was very close to Taliban supreme leader Mulla Omar, was given new assignment in Spin Bolda

The sources said that after handing over Spin Boldak to a former Mujahideen commander, Mulla Akhtar Jan Nurzai, the former security officer, Spin Boldak, Aminullah and other Taliban officials had made the desert in south of Kandahar their hide-out.

The sources said Aminullah and some other Taliban leaders had entered Pakistan through an unmanned route and gone underground in the Chaman area.

However, on Wednesday when he was seen in a Chaman bazaaar, security officials rushed to the place and arrested him .

Pakistan has tightened security on the border to prevent Taliban leaders and Arab Mujahideen fron entering Pakistan.
