LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Emir Sirajul Haq on Thursday said that Minar-e-Pakistan symbolised the effort of the Pakistani nation and that the JI was starting a struggle to complete the Pakistan movement as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.

He was speaking to the media at Minar-e-Pakistan which he visited to review arrangements for the JI Ijtema being held from November 21 to 23.

Sirajul Haq said that Quaid-e-Azam had started the Pakistan movement with the adoption of the Pakistan resolution on 23rd of March, 1940.

The JI leader said that feudal lords and capitalists brought up by the British sabotaged the Quaid's movement and drifted it from its goal of making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state.

He said the JI would revive the same movement at the Ijtema which would be attended by people from every nook and corner of the country.
