KARACHI: A Pakistan Peoples Party’s labour wing leader and two other activists were shot dead in Lyari on Wednesday night, police and party officials said.

They added that the victims were sitting at a pharmacy in Chakiwara-2 when armed motorcyclists opened fire on them and fled, said City SSP Sheeraz Nazeer.

As a result, three men identified as Inayatullah, Abdul Shakoor and Ejaz Lodhi were killed while Haider Ali was wounded.

The police officer believed that the real target might be Inayatullah, who owned the pharmacy. He was a PPP labour wing leader.

PPP Karachi division spokesperson Suleman Sindhi said that all victims were workers of the party.

A police source told Dawn that suspected gangsters had started targeting PPP workers in Lyari allegedly in ‘revenge’ for killing of the suspected gangsters in ‘encounters’.
