CHITRAL: MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin has said that President Mamnoon Hussain has formally approved the establishment of three sub-campuses of the Federal Urdu University, Islamabad, in Chitral city, Drosh and Booni.

He said that disciplines related to development of natural resources of Chitral would also be introduced at these campuses.

Talking to Dawn here on Friday, he said that the campuses would produce graduates who would be able to exploit the natural resources, portray Chitral’s rich culture and traditions and contribute in a practical way to create jobs in the relevant fields.

The MNA from Chitral said that he had approached the vice-chancellor of the university earlier this year with the request to establish its campuses in the district. He said that afterwards the proposal was sent to the president for approval.

He said that hotel and tourism management, natural resource management, mining engineering and electrical engineering would be the major disciplines to be initiated in these campuses.

Mr Iftikharuddin said that the area was rich with minerals while a large number of hydropower projects were being launched in the district and it was the reason for choosing two relevant disciplines of engineering.

He said that land was being acquired for establishing a cadet college in Chitral.
