PESHAWAR: A two-day training on orthotic management of scoliosis was held at the Khyber Medical University.

The short training was organised by ISPO Pakistan in collaboration with the Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (IPMR) and Pakistan Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics (PIPOS), according to a press release issued here on Friday.

The objective of the training was to acquire orientation regarding idiopathic scoliosis management in respect of multi-disciplinary team approach and also to emphasise on orthotic management especially treatment with cheanue spinal brace.

Speaking at the event, ISPO Pakistan president Ziaur Rahman highlighted the role of ISPO and importance of continuous medical education and capacity building of professionals.

Experts from multidisciplinary team delivered fruitful lectures on the management of idiopathic scoliosis.

Dr Shabir Awan, orthopedic & spinal surgeon, prosthetist and orthotist consultants Mazhar Hussain Tazagrami and Johar Ali, and physiotherapist Mohammad Ibrahim Khan shared with the participants their experience and knowledge regarding management of idiopathic scoliosis.

KMU vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Hafizullah, IPMR principle Mohammad Bin Afsar Jan and PIPOS managing director Aziz Ahmad also attended the closing ceremony.
