Pakistan, SL discuss cricket ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan visited Sri Lanka on the last leg of his tour of South Asian cricketing nations.

The purpose of the trip was to improve coordination and forge friendly ties between cricket boards of the four South Asian cricketing nations.

Shaharyar met Sri Lanka Cricket Board president Jayantha Dharmadasa in Colombo and discussed matters related to regional and bilateral cricket, according to a message received here on Friday from Pakistan’s High Commission in Colombo.

Shaharyar also briefed the Sri Lankan side about the improved security situation in Pakistan.

He informed Sri Lankan Cricket that Pakistan was following a gradual approach to revive international cricket in Pakistan.

In this regard, the PCB chief invited Sri Lanka’s women cricket team, ‘A’ team and under-19 team to visit Pakistan.

He assured that foolproof security arrangements will be made for the visiting teams.

Dharmadasa assured fullest support to Pakistan cricket.

After fruitless begging to Sheikh Hasina for X/Y/Z Bangladesh cricket team, now seems another fruitless invitation to Sri Lankan women and baby cricketers to 'safe' Pakistan !

Simple solution to this conundrum. Stop telecasting international matches in Pakistan, the loss of revenue will force others to line up to play in Pakistan. PCB needs to open up its deep pockets.

Why these PCB people are losing their matter upstairs. Why do they want some one to come and play cricket in Pakistan just now. Why not wait and let the things settle down more to normal. Instaed of this childish behaviour, why don't they use their energies to arrange A-team tours for Pakistan young talent.

@Md Imran Pakistan does not bring any significant revenue to ICC. That is why we are not in Big 3 or Big 4 or even Big 5.

@M. Emad Why go begging....not understood why ?? Has the PCB boss ever thought about getting implemented the findings and recommendations of the inquiry committee which was formed after the attack on Sri Lanka team. The findings clearly elaborated the reasons and that some of the police officers were not present (absent from duty) at the spot where the SL team was attacked. As always happens in our country ..no action is reported to have been taken against the absent police officers. It is quite possible that the concerned police officers are enjoying life after getting due or out of turn promotions instead of being behind the bars. And we go on a begging trip telling the world that it is now safe to come and play.

..Sheri is doing exactly what an 80 year old can do. He has no clout, no decision making powers, no real drive or passion, he is simply going around on a paid holiday & in between inviting ladies & kids team to Pak whilst Sethi & co are planning to catch bigger fish to fill their pockets. If they really cared about Pak cricket they should develop grassroot; school/college cricket, improve coaching/run coaching courses, develop infrastructure & the local game in this time to harness wealth of local talent to create good cri keters
