MARDAN: A man and his son were suffocated to death in a well at their house here on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Taja village of Rustam area, local people and officials of Rescue-1122 said.

They said that the victims identified as Qalandar Shah and his 13-year-old son, Zaidal Shah, died of suffocation in a well where they had got down to retrieve a Benazir Income Support Programme card, which had fallen in it.

The local people said that Zaidal Shah went down the well, but when he didn’t come out after a long time, his father too went inside. Rescue-1122 personnel, who were called by relatives of the slain persons, retrieved the bodies after hectic efforts.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed when a speeding tractor trolley hit him while crossing road near Shah Dhand Baba area on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Anwar Khan, 7, who died on the spot.

Police impounded the tractor-trolley and registered FIR against the driver who fled the scene.
