Face-saving for PM

Published September 3, 2014

EVERYONE is now convinced that the resignation of the prime minister is the only way to ameliorate the situation. The PTI has even asked him to go on 30 days’ leave so that inquiries can be conducted about rigging in the polls.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must take some important decision to save the situation from deteriorating further. If he is able to move astutely, history will remember him in a good manner.

The solution lies in getting out of stubbornness on both sides, i.e. the power-hungry revolutionary leaders and the prime minister.

The resolution of the current political crisis is necessary for the salvation of the country and protection of the constitutional system. National integrity must be the main concern.
