UNITED NATIONS, July 23: UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on Wednesday urged India and Pakistan to exercise restraint following the attack on Hindu pilgrims in the Indian-occupied Kashmir, saying that the two countries should continue their efforts to find a peaceful solution to outstanding disputes.
“The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by the increase in violence in Jammu and Kashmir in the past two days and expresses his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives,” Annan’s spokesman said in a statement.
“The Secretary-General reiterates his condemnation of all acts of terrorism,” he said.—AFP
