CHARSADDA: A man was killed and two, including a peace volunteer, suffered injuries when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on them in Aranda area of Shabqadar here on Friday.

Local residents and police said Nawaz Khan along with two aides were standing outside his house when two gunmen riding a motorcycle showed up and opened fire killing aide Zair Gul and injuring Nawaz and aide Tariq. The attackers managed to escape.

Nawaz was an active member of the Shabqadar peace committee and had escaped several attacks.In 2008, his vehicle was snatched and blown up with explosives by militants.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old boy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. However, the reason of Khadim Ali’s act was not known.

The police registered an FIR and began investigation.
