ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabd police have recovered a newborn baby who was kidnapped by an unknown woman from the gynae ward of Women and Children Hospital here on August 23.

They have also arrested the woman allegedly involved in the kidnapping.

District police officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur on Tuesday confirmed the incident and said that a special team, headed by DSP Cantt Khankhel Khan and assisted by SHO Gulzar Khan, had recovered the baby and arrested one Ms Saima of Banda Jalal Khan for her involvement in the case.

One Irum, wife of Bashir of Bagnotar, had told the Cantt police on Aug 23 that her newborn baby had been kidnapped from the gynae ward of the Women and Children Hospital, Abbottabad. The FIR was registered in the Cantt police station.

Following investigations the police raided a house in Banda Jalal Khan and arrested one Saima and produced her before the magistrate for further investigation.

The DPO has lauded the local police for tracing the case and recovering the baby.

RTO STAFF PRAISED: Sajjad Haider, chief commissioner of Regional Tax Office (RTO), Abbottabad, has appreciated the efforts of his staff for achieving the tax collection target set by the Federal Board of Revenue till June 30, 2014.

He said that the tax recovery made till June 30 stood at Rs4.29 billion compared to Rs3.17 billion of the last year. He also lauded contribution of members of the Hazara Tax Bar Association (HTBA) in this regard.

Mr Haider was speaking during his meeting with the members of newly elected cabinet of HTBA at his office here on Tuesday. HTBA president Agha Shabbir Ahmed was also present on the occasion.

The chief commissioner assured the HTBA of redressing the complaints put forwarded by its members.

He said that tax-friendly culture had been developed in the RTO office to redress grievances of the tax lawyers and complainants.

He pointed out that special efforts were being made for improvement of professional skill of the officers and staff.

He said that a series of training sessions and workshops would be held with special attention on public dealing.
