TAXILA: Over 3,000 candidates appeared in the entry test for admission to engineering colleges in Punjab for the upcoming undergraduate session.

The test was held at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Sunday amid tight security.

The test was simultaneously conducted in various cities of the country, under the supervision of UET Lahore. The university administration, in collaboration with the local administration, made special security arrangements, keeping in view the incident of leakage of papers of the entry test last year.

UET Taxila Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Abbas Chaudhry said around 45,000 students appeared in the test, across the province, out of which 3,000 appeared at UET Taxila.

He said total seats for the undergraduate programme were 1,435 so it will be a tough process. A total of 14 centres were established in the university campus and the test was conducted in a peaceful and congenial environment, he said, adding that no complaint about any untoward incident has been received by the university.
