PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department has decided to revise the curriculum of recruit training course for its freshly recruited constables.

The decision to revise the content of the training course was taken in a meeting held with Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani in the chair at his office on Thursday.

Additional IG headquarters, commandant PTC Hangu, and DIGs training and headquarters also attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Durrani said that the decision to revise the curriculum of recruit training course for the constables had been taken with a view to introducing modern physical and academic training modules so as to enhance the capacity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

He said that the new training modules would help bring the KP police at par with modern police forces and they would perform multi-dimensional roles as per expectations of the citizenry.

According to an official, a number of changes will be introduced in the physical and academic component of the recruit training course, which will shortly be held for the freshly selected constables at Police Training College, Hangu. From now onwards, in addition to the conventional physical training of parade, the recruits will be given training in swimming, martial arts and unarmed combat.

The recruits will also be given special training for carrying out rescue operations in natural calamities, public disorder management and search operations.

The need to introduce these changes was felt in view of the expectation of public from police during natural calamities like floods and earthquakes, law and order situations, agitations and numerous other challenges faced by the provincial police force.
