KARACHI: Talented Faraz Ali slammed a splendid 70 as K-Electric outclass Advance Telecom by seven wickets to reach the final of the 29th Karachi Gymkhana Omar Associates Ramazan Cricket Festival here on Saturday.

Chasing 134 in the second semi-final at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground, K-Electric paced their innings well mainly because of the left-handed Faraz who banged seven boundaries and two sixes during his 51-ball effort that made him the deserved recipient of the man-of-the-match award.

Mohammad Waqas contributed 21 (18 balls, two fours) while helping Faraz share a second-wicket partnership worth 56 runs before Rizwan Khan (16 off 19) and Tariq Haroon (12 off 7) came together to wrap the match.

Off-spinner Nasir Owais captured two wickets for 14 runs in three overs while Advance Telecom skipper Rehan Sheikh bagged the prized scalp of Faraz but conceded 38 runs in his 3.5 overs.

Earlier, Advance Telecom struggled against the all-spin attack of K-Electric after being asked to bat first by Misbah Khan who had won the toss.

Sohail Khan, the ex-Pakistan fast bowler, hit 22 off 14 balls with the aid of two fours and one six after opener Mohammad Yasin had made scored a 20-ball 21 (two fours and one six).

Misbah and fellow off-spinner Shahid Khan claimed two wickets apiece for 30 and 11 runs, respectively.

K-Electric’s opponents in the final on Sunday are defending champions Omar CC.

Summarised scores:

ADVANCE TELECOM 133-9 in 20 overs (Sohail Khan 22, Mohammad Yasin 21; Shahid Khan 2-11, Misbah Khan 2-30); K-ELECTRIC 136-3 in 18.3 overs (Faraz Ali 70, Mohammad Waqas 21; Nasir Owais 2-14).
