FIA gets scent of Qadri’s ‘graft’

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency has detected that Dr Tahirul Qadri purchased a bullet-proof car from the charity funds of the Tehreek-i-Mihajul Quran.
An official told Dawn that Dr Qadri had purchased a bullet-proof car from the charity amount coming in the account of the TMQ from the UK. "The car has been purchased for Rs13.6 million," he said, adding the agency would provide information to the relevant department.
TMQ spokesperson Abdul Hafeez Chaudhry denied the allegation. "It is a baseless allegation as Dr Sahib had never used a penny from the charity funds for himself or any member of his family. He even did not claim royalty money of his books. The accounts of TMQ and its leaders are open and anyone can check them," he said.

@Mustafa : Wrong. Only the tax payer can order the certified copy of taxes ( in writing apply to tax office ) and give for publication. Even courts can not make a tax return public, Court can force the tax payer to submit the returns if there is federal case.

@Mustafa yes you cannot get anyones tax return info through the freedom of information act but you can raise concern about a person living in Canada and spending money like this, one who claims to make no money and gets most likely tax refunds and turns around and buys cars worth over $100K. Oh by the way I did not know you could buy a bullet proof for that much i thought they would be more expensive.

Islamabad doesn't give Sharif or the Army any money so they must make their own money. They army needs clothing and uniforms, food and drink.

The report says "TMQ accounts in the UK". Is the TMQ a registered charity in the UK? If so, then a case can be made in the UK to challenge the charity status of an organization which uses charity funds to buy bullet-proof cars necessitated only because the great and pious mullah wishes to engage in politics.

How has Qadri amassed huge assets and wealth in Pakistna and Canada? The investigating agencies should also share the details of tax returns with the CRA i.e. Canada Revenue Agency. He was also once watched in photo on tv screen sitting with Danish Intelligence chief. All these evidence would reveal the truth as also arriving at correct conclusion as to who is corrupt.

If Tahirul Qadri does not take any royalty from his books, he does not take a penny from the charity fund and he has no job that we know off; then where does he get the money to travel Business Class (More than Six Thousand dollars for a two way ticket) every time he comes to Pakistan? Where does he get the money to pay for his hotel bills and how does he pay for his entourage? I don't believe he had any inheritance to speak off. He comes from a poor family. So, if the supporters can just simply answer these questions without just being Holier Than Thou; we may be able to have a reasonable, civilized conversation.
