Seven killed in separate incidents

ISLAMABAD: Seven people died in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday.

In the first incident, a woman was killed and a man injured in a traffic accident on Islamabad Highway near Zero Point.

The incident took place when a speeding car owned by a money changer hit a motorcycle.

As a result, the two bike riders suffered injuries and were shifted to hospital where the woman was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car tried to escape after the incident but the police arrested him along with a cashier and two gunmen. The money changer was not travelling in the vehicle.

After the accident, people from nearby areas blocked the road in protest for half an hour.

In another accident, a cyclist was killed after being hit by a vehicle at Sihala. The victim was identified as Noorullah.

Another person was found dead at I-9/1. The incident came to light when some passersby spotted the body and informed the police who reached the spot and shifted it to the hospital.

The victim was identified as Babar Khan. Police investigation showed that he was gunned down during a robbery.

In another incident, a security guard deployed at a house in G-11/1 was murdered.

The owner of the house, Amir Sultan, told Ramna police that Mohammad Aslam was working as a security guard in his house.

He said some people slit his throat.

The police said they were investigating if the security guard was murdered due to an enmity or during an attempted robbery.

Meanwhile, three people drowned in Kurang Nullah in the area of Angori. Saeed, Shafique and Mehmood were swimming in the water when the incident occurred.

Till the filing of this report on Tuesday evening, rescue workers had retrieved two bodies from the water.
