KHUZDAR: Three people, among them a soldier of the Frontier Corps, were killed and at least 25 others injured in a bomb attack on an FC vehicle in Khuzdar Town on Saturday.

Sources said that unidentified people placed an explosive device at the Chandi Chowk in Khuzdar town and detonated it by remote control when the FC vehicle was passing through the area.

Home Secretary retired Captain Akbar Hussain Durrani told Dawn that five FC men were among the injured.

A rescue team took the injured to the civil hospital.

According to sources in the hospital, six of the injured were in critical condition.

One of the dead was identified as Abdul Rehman but names of other deceased could not be ascertained.

Some of the injured were identified as Abdul Hakeem, Mohammad Bakhsh, Fateh Mohammad, Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Khan, Zafar Ahmad, Zeeshan Saleem, Mohammad Karim, Nadir Ali, Amir Bakhsh, Abdul Wahab, Mohammad Usman, Ghulam Sarwar, Mohammad Bakhsh, Mohammad Usman, Ayaz Ali, Momin Khan, Fateh Mohammad and Mohammad Akram.

Two bodies were handed over to relatives after post-mortem and legal formalities.

Law-enforcement personnel cordoned off the area after the blast and launched a search operation.

Police have lodged a case.
