KOHAT/GHALANAI : A security official was injured in a bomb blast in Musakhel Landi Shah area of Baizai tehsil in Mohmand Agency on Wednesday.

Officials said that a convoy of security forces convoy was passing through the area when an improvised explosive device, planted there, went off. As a result, a subedar was injured and a vehicle was partially damaged, they added. The injured official was shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

After the incident, security forces conducted a search operation in the area. However, no arrest was made.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Frontier Crops Maj Gen Tayyab Azam on Wednesday visited Mohmand Agency and reviewed the security situation in the border areas of the tribal region.

He was accompanied by Political Agent Khushal Khan, Brig Zahid Khan, Commandant Mohmand Rifles Col Umar Haider Bukhari and other security officials.

Col Umar Haider briefed him about the current security situation in the areas near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In Kohat, a constable identified as Manzoor was kidnapped. The family members of the constable told Lachi police that he received a call on his cellular phone on July 11 when he was having Iftar. He told the family that he had received an official call and had to take part in a search operation. But he did not turn up that night.

The family members waited for his return for six days thinking that he might be busy in operation and other official work. They contacted Lachi police station on Wednesday and informed them about the incident.

The family of the constable has not received any telephone call from the ‘kidnappers’.
