MANSEHRA: The local police have booked a man for killing his sister in an honour-related crime in Deri Madakhail area of Torghar. The FIR was registered against Fazal Waris on the complaint of his mother.

Head moharrar of Karore police station Naseer Akhtar told Dawn that Zarjana Bibi had alleged her son shot sister down on Tuesday for dishonouring family. He said the suspect was at large. The police official said usually, local residents didn’t reported honour killings.

He said police had begun search for the suspect after registering FIR.

The official said people had informed police about the killing of the slain woman’s alleged paramour by unidentified people in Karachi, but there was no official word on it.

Torghar was a provincially administered tribal area of Mansehra district until 2012 when it was declared a settled district through a presidential order. PROMOTED: Frontier Constabulary (FC) district officer Ghulam Murtaza Tabbasum has been promoted to Basic Pay Scale 18.

FC Commandant Abdul Majid Marwat and deputy commandant Nisar Ahmad Tanoli pinned badges on Mr Tabbasum’s uniform during a special ceremony here the other day. Mr Tabbasum was posted to Oghi as the FC district officer in Sept 2013.
