ISLAMABAD: Shortly after taking oath as the 15th Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted about his emotional interaction with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who attended his swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Soon after the career politician led his party, BJP to the victory after going through a dazzling, high-tech election campaign, Modi had called voters' attention to his mother riding a three-wheeled auto-rickshaw to cast her ballot earlier this month.

“I am the chief minister of a prosperous state ... And my 90-year-old mother goes to vote in an auto-rickshaw,” said Modi, punching a fist through the air as he claimed his place by India's poor masses.
While tweeting about his interaction with the Pakistani premier, Modi said that Nawaz Sharif had watched the visuals of meeting his mother Hiraben on television in which she had offered him sweets.
PM Sharif said while having dinner, his mother saw the visuals on the television which made her emotional. Sharif then told Modi that he goes to visit his mother once a week.
Later, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee hosted a dinner for visiting SAARC leaders where the guests were treated to a variety of dishes.

Bravo to both Mr. Modi for inviting Mr. Sharif and Mr. Sharif accepting invitation graciously. Good start indeed!
Now slowly pre independence thinking is changing in India and so will in Pakistan, as the young generations in both countries become dominant force. Living with constant hatred and violence deter common man's progress and increase sufferings. Eventually we should have situation like USA and Canada, no bullet exchange, only trade and prosperity.
Youth can bring change peacefully as seen in recent Indian election where 800 millions voted with no act of violence.

I just couldn't believe my eyes reading that the mother of a chief minister (who is 90 years old) goes in a rickshaw to vote. WOW. Some thing common between the two PMs. Both love and care for their mothers. A big difference is that unlike Mr. Sharif, Mr. Modi was born in a poor family. His passion and love for his country was immense since childhood and hence he sacrificed his wife and family at a young age. Mr. Modi did not invite his mother or any immediate family members to the oath ceremony which shows he does not any demonstrate favoritism to his family members. India is fortunate and proud to have him as PM. I am sure he will take India to many economic heights. Mr. Modi loves to develop industries and I am sure he can help Pakistan in this regard as well, if the environment in Pakistan permits this.

Peaceful co-existence is the key to mutual prosperity and a real possibility, but for the Kashmir question. Simple solution, turn the de facto border / line of control into an international boundary. Implement the following initiatives based on the European model of a common free market:
1) Abolish all tariffs and levies and customs duties, the pre cursor to free trade. there are businesses on both sides of the border who would benefit from cross border trade.
2) Open additional border crossings for the free flow of goods.
3) Set up a joint fact finding committee to identify and address all potential terrorist threats.
4) Allocate extra funds towards cultural exchanges.
5) Re deploy all military units to peace time positions.
Long term:
1) Common currency
2) Common defense perimeter
3) Abolish visa requirements
4) Separate cricket teams ( just kidding)
This MUST happen, question is when ?

Great Moment- Hawks on both sides are going to talk negative or create stories on any gestures shown by these two leaders in working out things, life is ever changing so does relations look at how west has sorted out issues between them and they were in a worse situation than what we both nations have been, so even a little step towards positivity is always welcome whether it causes major changes in the relations that time will tell- as someone has said people who don't change with time, time changes them...... so its great for these 2 leaders to shake hands rather throwing punches at each other.
Pray and cross fingers and everything that these baby steps become bigger in coming days....

This hand shake has sent shivers down the spines of the weapons industries. They are worried about losing a big chunk of business. If these both countries became peaceful at each other, who will buy their never ending supply of deadly weapons to store and stack for a "just in case" scenario. I am sure weapon industries will sit down to rethink their strategy to make both countries at loggerheads again so that their business can flourish again.

The two countries don't need form the world's most ultimate alliance. Even if they take a neutral stance towards each other and stop mucking around with each other's business the situation will improve considerably. The fundamentalist groups in both countries would never allow them to enter into any form of friendship, if Modi and Sharif took on a path to form a friendly alliance there are forces which will try to derail the process and then both countries would be back to as they were before. For now expectations should be kept at a minimum and the countries should focus on doing nothing more than just minding their own business and not hate each other.
