LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has taken notice of a young patient’s death allegedly due to inordinate delay in his surgery at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

According to a press release issued on Thursday, the PHC has sought admission and treatment record of deceased Irfan of Mandi Bahauddin.

He was admitted to the PIC for the treatment of rheumatic heart disease (RHC) but died allegedly due to a 16-hour-long delay in an urgently needed double valve replacement (DVR) surgery.

The PHC further directed the PIC management to submit a detailed report on the circumstances of the death within 48 hours. — Staff Reporter
