LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to leave for Saudi Arabia on Monday (today) for an unscheduled visit to the kingdom.
The government officials are neither conforming nor denying the visit report.
A leader of the ruling PML-N told Dawn that Mr Sharif would seek more financial support from Riyadh for Islamabad besides discussing certain regional issues with the Saudi royal family. He would not say for how may days the prime minister would be staying in the Gulf state.
However, political observers say the visit is very important in the wake of ongoing civilian-military tussle over retired Gen Pervez Musharraf's trial in the high treason case as the former army chief shifted to Karachi from Islamabad on Sunday.
