THIS is apropos the news item ‘Investigators collecting information to verify UBA claims’ (April 11).

How bleak the security situation in Pakistan is becoming that now investigations are required to verify claims of terrorists who say they did the act.

Now, especially after the peace initiative of the government, it is more difficult to pinpoint which terrorist group carried out an attack as, in addition to ‘accepting the responsibility’, now ‘denials’ are also becoming part of the business.

This increased uncertainty is an added misery for the common people as by not hitting the nail on the head at the right time, we have allowed the monster of extremism nurtured into a multifaceted ever-present threat which can attack at any time and from any side.

Even in these trying times politicians and the armed forces, it seems, are still entangled in our old game of who is loyal and who is a traitor.

Unity should be the need of the day and everyone should work together to keep it so that a stronger nation rises against the menace of terror.
