118 caught cheating in SSC exams

KARACHI: A total of 118 students were caught red-handed while cheating in the secondary school certificate examinations over the past two days, said controller of examinations of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi Noman Ahsan on Wednesday.

A special vigilance team paid surprise visits to different examination centres in the city and caught 118 students who were cheating in exams, he added.

He said that 17 students were caught in the Girls and Boys Secondary School (GBSS) in Shah Faisal, 17 in GBSS Saudabad Liaquat Market, 38 in GBSS Port Qasim, four in GBHSS Jam Murad Ali Gadap and the remaining from other examination centres.

The vigilance teams seized the examination papers of the students and handed over their cases to a committee.

Meanwhile, the head of the chief minister’s vigilance team, Nazeer Chakrani, also took round of different examination centres.

He said that the purpose of constituting the vigilance team was to discourage the culture of cheating. He visited Fazlul Rehman Government Girls Secondary School Urdu Bazaar, NGV Government Boys Secondary School, Ibrahim Ali Bhai Government School Nisthar road, Dua High School, DHA Model School, Junior Model School and DSKBZ College. —PPI
