LAHORE: Two-goal Ihsanullah helped PIA to annex the title of the first Manzoor Hussain Atif Memorial Hockey Tournament after chalking up a 4-2 win against Wapda-B at the Sargodha Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

The score was 2-2 at half time but Ihsanullah and M Irfan slammed in their goals in the second half to earn laurels.

Ihsannullah drew the first blood scoring his first in the 14th minute while converting a penalty-corner.

International Mohammad Zubair doubled the lead in the 21st minute also cashing in on a short-corner. But Wapda-B bounced back to level the score 2-2 before the end of the first half.

First Ateeq earned a field goal in the 27th minute and then Waseem restored the parity just one minute before the half time, capitalising on a short-corner.

But Ihsanullah banged home in the 43rd minute and then Irfan found the cave in the 67th minute with both goals being scored by conversion of short corners.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Rana Mujahid Ali presented the winning trophy to PIA captain Aamir Shahzad with DCO Tariq Mahmood and MNA Choudhary Abdul Hamid among others in attendance to distribute prizes among players and officials of the organizing committee.

The PHF secretary also announced prize of Rs 100,000 for the District Hockey Association, Sargodha for holding the premier event successfully.
