PESHAWAR: A Chinese company has offered investment in hydropower projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The offer was made by a delegation of the Sino-Tia-Cheng Group during a meeting with advisor to the chief minister on economic affairs and in-charge of the investment promotion cell Rafaqatullah Babar here on Sunday.

The Chinese company was led by its chief executive Mr Liuyonggyang, according to a handout issued here.

Mr Liuyonggyang told the chief minister’s advisor that his company had vast experience in building hydel power stations as well as in the automobile and industrial sectors.

He maintained that his company with financial assistance of the China Developmental Bank was ready for making 100 per cent investment in Shozhosin (132MW) and Sharmai (120MW) power stations in Chitral.

Mr Babar said that the provincial government besides introducing reforms and transparency in other sectors of the government had chalked out Strategic Development Partnership Framework wherein foreign investors were being given all incentives under one window.

Transparency in the investment matters has also been ensured, he informed the Chinese investors.

Mr Babar also proposed investment in two hydropower projects near Abbottabad, saying that feasibility reports of the projects had already been finalised.

He asked the Chinese company to send a technical proposal to the provincial government so that practical progress could be made in this regard.

He assured the company head of all out support of the provincial government in its ventures.— Bureau Report
