QUETTA: Unknown miscreants blew up two gas pipelines in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district on Wednesday, Levies sources confirmed.

“Unknown men had placed explosive materials with the two gas pipelines of eight inches in the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti and then detonated them,” a Levies official said, adding that as a result of the blast, gas supply to the plant was suspended.

The local administration reached the site and a probe into the incident went underway.

Sabotage of gas pipelines is a characteristic tactic of tribal militants and is frequently witnessed in Balochistan.

However, the province also suffers from attacks carried out by Taliban militants.

Similar attacks have happened earlier in Balochistan as well.

On Jan 11, an 18-inch Sui gas pipeline was blown up by unknown miscreants in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Balochistan.
