ISLAMABAD: The hearing of the treason case against former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf resumed on Thursday at the premises of the special court formed to try the former president, DawnNews reported.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard the arguments presented by the chief prosecuting lawyer Akram Sheikh who said that the court had ordered for the formation of an investigating team comprising of honest persons and that the constitution was implemented upon in the case.

Sheikh further said that the investigating officer could appear before the bench if required and that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not interfered in the probe of the case.

Moreover, counsel for Musharraf, Anwar Mansoor, also presented his arguments over the constitution of the special court and the way the case was registered against the former military strongman.

Mansoor was of the view that the Constitution of Pakistan had defined the government as the prime minister and his cabinet, further saying that the administration implemented its authority via the federal cabinet and not the through the establishment division.

He added that the cabinet's authority could not be delegated to a secretary and that the constitution had defined the powers that could be delegated to a secretary.
