Court restores AGPR

Published January 17, 2014

ISLAMABAD: Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restored Tahir Mehmood as Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR).

He had been sent on three months forced leave on Jan 14 after the IHC ruled against his suspension on December 20, two days after he was suspended.

The AGPR had sent four references to NAB against different ministries seeking probe into alleged corruption in the accounts. Mr Mehmood’s counsel contended that the government had victimised his client for implementing Supreme Court orders related to release of funds for projects of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. — A Reporter
