ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has been provided enhanced security during his presence in Islamabad and likely appearance at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday, police said.

They added that security had been increased at Zardari House in F-8/2 and at NAB’s courts.

A contingent comprising 60 personnel has been deployed with the former president to remain with him during his stay in the capital.

A superintendent of police (SP), with the assistance of two deputy superintendents of police and two inspectors, will supervise the security arrangements, police said.

Mr Zardari will be provided VVIP security protocol during his movement on roads and lanes would be closed to traffic.

Police said a bullet proof vehicle had been provided to the former president with a motorcade of a dozen vehicles.

Upon his arrival at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Mr Zardari was taken to his house amid tight security while former interior minister Rehman Malik accompanied him.
