KARACHI, June 21: The PPP Parliamentarians, Sindh chapter, on Saturday again served show cause notices on the five PPP dissidents and warned them of grave consequences if they voted on the finance bill.

Addressing a news conference, leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Khuhro, said the notices were delivered to them in separate envelopes during the provincial assembly session.

Mr Khuhro said that the part of the Constitution, which pertained to switching sides, was restored. Since the dissidents had been elected on party ticket and symbols, they should abide by the decision of the party not to take part in the budget debate nor vote on the finance bill.

He also criticized the Sindh Assembly Speaker, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, for not allowing the opposition to move its privilege motions, submitted on Friday, against the Punjab irrigation minister.

He said that on Saturday morning also, he had submitted another privilege motion against calling him an ‘agent’.

He regretted that the chair did not take such remark about leader of the opposition by a minister of another province seriously. He warned that such attitude would add to alienation of the people of Sindh.

He said that Punjab minister’s accusations against him smacked of a diabolic conspiracy as the Muttahida founder, Altaf Hussain, as well as leaders of PML-Q and SDA, had not been singled out for opposing the Thal canal project.

He appreciated gesture of the PPP Punjab leaders Qasim Zia and Mr Sanaullah who stressed on resolving disputes through consensus. He said the government’s eagerness to adopt the anti-Thal canal resolution once again was to mislead the people.

He said that without the announcement of NFC award, the present budget would remain a farce.
