GUJRANWALA: The district administration called out army and Rangers on Monday for providing security during the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Husain (AS) being observed on Tuesday (today).

On Monday, personnel of the army and Rangers flag marched on various roads in the city.

District Officer (Coordination) Pervaiz Iqbal Butt said eight processions would be taken out from various parts of the city apart from holding of six majalis.

City Police Officer Raja Riffat said over 1,100 policemen had been deployed on the routes of these processions while Rescue-1122 vehicles and the Elite Force personnel would also be present there.

BOOKED: The Anti-Corruption Establishment booked two ASIs for torturing two persons at private torture cells and releasing them after taking bribe from them on Monday.

Complainants Rana Ijaz Husain and Muhammad Inayat alleged that Cantonment ASI Muhammad Aslam and Ghakkhar ASI Attaur Rehman tortured them in private torture cells over minor issues and released them after extorting Rs20,000 from each of them.

THREE GET LIFE: The sessions court handed down life terms and fined Rs300,000 each to three accused in a narcotic case here on Monday.

They will have to undergo one year more imprisonment if they fail to make payment.
