QUETTA: Two militants and a soldier were killed in a gunfight in Turbat area of Kech district on Monday, sources said.

Armed men opened fire on the camp of a private company engaged in the construction of a road in Turbat area.

Local administration dispatched personnel of Frontier Corps, Levies and police who intercepted the attackers at the Buleda Road crossing.

The assailants also attacked security forces triggering a shootout which continued for over an hour and left two militants and an FC soldier dead.

“Two attackers and a soldier were killed in the gunbattle,” said Khan Wasey, a spokesman for the Frontier Corps, adding the FC soldier had suffered multiple bullet injuries and died while being shifted to hospital.

An official of the Turbat administration said all employees of the construction company escaped unhurt in the attack.

Bodies of the militants were taken to the District Hospital Turbat but could not be identified.

The dead FC soldier hailed from Kohat.

Later, security forces launched a search operation in the area but no one was arrested.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
